Restoration
& Regeneration
Working in partnership with Lewishams Greenscene
division, Envirowork has, over the last year, undertaken building and
site restoration in a couple of parks, which has allowed Trainees to
develop additional construction skills.
It is anticipated that more projects of this nature will be developed
with the council and other local organisations such as the Lewisham
Environment Trust to restore and regenerate local buildings and open
spaces that have fallen into a state of disrepair and neglect. See:

Housing Estates
Envirowork Lewisham works with Housing Associations on estates projects and grounds maintenance.
Our NDC contract includes estate garden clearances. Some gardens have been unmanaged for years and become overgrown with local rubbish strewn amongst the vegetation with evidence of other antisocial behaviour. The changes make a real quality of life difference to locals and opens up opportunities for community activity and cohesion. See:

Parks and Open Spaces During its first year of operation from the old park keepers depot in Hilly Fields Park, working in partnership with Glendale, Envirowork has taken on the management of the shaded garden in Hilly Fields and the boundaries of the Bowling Green, which has been well received by park users.
Envirowork has also worked in partnership with the council on the new Cornmill Gardens and it is anticipated that it will be involved in the Quercus project in Ladywell Fields and the regeneration of Mountsfield Park, providing valuable training and work experience for Trainees.

NDC - New Cross Gate
In November 2005, Envirowork was awarded an 18-month contract to provide an environmental clean-up in New Cross Gate as part of the regeneration of the area by New Deal for Communities.
Work has included clearing a number of overgrown and derelict areas which were unsafe and threatening and creating open space areas that are safe for public use and pleasing to the eye.
Recently two tonnes of bulbs have been planted along main road verges to bring colour into the area in the spring. The local community gardens in Besson Street have been maintained on a weekly basis and Envirowork continues to work closely with local residents to provide improvements to their environment.

Trees
Envirowork Lewisham is a recognised arboricultural contractor to Lewisham Council working in estates, streets and cemeteries. Our experienced and qualified arboricultural crew can take on jobs from epicormic growth removal, small crown lifts and reductions to felling whole large trees by roads. Logs have been distributed to schools and private people for use in gardens landscaping projects. Chippings can be offered back as mulch. Our team also plants trees as part of landscaping projects in gardens, hospital grounds and parks. If a sensible TGO shows promise he or she is taken on as an apprentice and sent on further training.
