Training

Training is regarded as an extremely important element in any Trainee’s stay with Envirowork Lewisham. The company provides the opportunity for Trainees to take three certificates during their six month employment which, combined with their work experience, will provide a sound base from which to progress into full time employment or to continue with further training.
Envirowork employs experienced and highly qualified external trainers who work with our supervisors, who provide day to day, on the job internal assessments. The company is recognised as a satellite training centre by the Institute of Groundsmanship.

The courses taken are:

1. The Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG) National Practical Certificate, providing training in groundsmanship skills such as mowing, turfing and cultivations.

2. City and Guilds Level One in Horticultural skills, providing training in gardening skills such as planting seed, watering and pruning.

3. A Foundation Certificate in Health and Safety in the Workplace.

In addition to the above training, trainees have the opportunity to learn such skills as strimming, hedging, fencing and tree and plant identification, for which they receive a certificate of attendance.

At the end of their contract, all trainees receive a portfolio with their certificates and a CD with photographic evidence of their work.
